Scouts

Scouts is the Section within Scouting for young people aged between 10-14 years. Once an individual reaches 14 years of age, they leave to become part of an Explorer Unit (14-18 years). This age can vary slightly depending on the individual circumstances. The Scouts follow a balanced programme of games and activities both in and outdoors.

Scouts will generate plenty of fun and adventure whilst in the troop. Scouts are encouraged to push the boundaries of what they think is possible and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for their achievements there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges. These awards are given in recognition of the effort made by each young person at their own level of development and understanding.

Ask any Scout what they like best about being it and most of them will reply with expeditions, camping or nights away. Most youngsters love being outdoors, and the camps and nights away are certainly very different from school trips! It’s a chance to try some things that cannot be done at regular Troop meetings often incorporating a range of adventurous activities whilst experiencing controlled independence.
