Last Sunday (2nd June 2024) 8 Young people and 2 young leaders from across the Warminster Scout Group attended a service organised by the Royal British Legion’s Warminster Branch ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

RBL Branch Chairman Andy Clark said the event was very poignant and he had never been to an church service where there had been tears followed by applause.

Reverend Sue Foster used a recording of Burma veteran Robin Rowland in which he spoke of his experiences during the battle of Kohima.

This moving piece was followed by a solo performance by Lucy Hitchcock who sang “we’ll meet again

It was great to see all the young people honour the occasion by representing the group at this historic event.

Nature and the outdoors are languages that can be learned. Once you identify a beech tree, tie a clove hitch or cook a simple meal over a fire that you’ve built yourself, you’ll never forget it.'
